FREQUENTLY ASKED TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

No — Drilling and soil nail insertion do not cut, damage, or compromise the internal steel reinforcement belts or mesh inside precast concrete panels.

Technical Explanation: Precast RCC fascia panels are manufactured with precision pre-formed sleeve guide-holes and engineered anchor blockouts. Soil nail boreholes are drilled directly through these designated guide sleeves and panel interlocking joints. This ensures that the panel's internal steel reinforcement mesh, load-bearing belts, and lifting loops remain 100% intact, undamaged, and structurally sound throughout the installation process.
Precast concrete panels offer superior aesthetic finish, factory-controlled concrete quality (M40/M50 grade), and zero rebound waste compared to shotcrete. They are ideal for urban highways, flyovers, and bridge abutments where architectural appearance and speed of panel erection with mobile cranes are paramount.
Soil nails are passive structural elements installed into un-tensioned grouted boreholes; they develop resistive tensile force incrementally as the surrounding ground moves. Active rock anchors (tiebacks) are post-tensioned to 60-80% of their yield strength upon installation, actively applying compressive stress to lock jointed rock wedges together before any ground movement occurs.
In accordance with FHWA-NHI-14-007 and ASTM D4435, verification pull-out tests are performed on sacrificial test nails using a hollow hydraulic ram and calibrated load cell. Nails are incrementally loaded up to 200% of Design Test Load (DTL) and held at maximum test load for 60 minutes to record creep deformation (must be less than 2mm per log cycle of time).
